Coffee Icon Juan Valdez To Visit MIA Cafe Location

Jorge S. Kuperman, AIA on behalf of JSK Architectural Group, Architects of the new Juan Valdez Cafe at MIA, greets Juan Valdez personified in the "Colombian Idol" of Carlos Castañeda to the location at the North Terminal of Miami International Airport.

During the event customers were treated to a coffee tasting as well as photographs with the coffee icon. In 2006, former grower Carlos Castañeda was selected by the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia to be the current face of Juan Valdez.

Juan Valdez Café is operated by Miami, Fla.-based NewsLink Group. NewsLink joined forces with Colombian coffee retailer Procafecol to bring the concept to airports.  The cafe is located in the North Terminal’s Concourse D across from Gate 23. In addition to fine Colombian coffee, the café offers pastries, bagels, muffin, sandwiches, salades and more. The MIA location opened December 23, 2011, and is the fifth Juan Valdez Café in a U.S. airport.
